TypewriterTechs WHERE QUALITY RESTORATION IS OUR STANDARD

The Royal Typewriter Company was one of the longest lasting typewriter companies. The Royal Quiet DeLuxe was the flagship of the Royal line touted as the easiest writing machine having more big machine features than any other portable. The Quiet Deluxe was one of Ernest Hemingway's favorite machines. This was the first model in the series that out-sold any other portables of its time. The Quiet Deluxe features a magic margin, picture window writing line visibility, paper lock scale and tab arrangements, rapid ribbon changer and larger knobs for ease in use. It was introduced just before World War II, but production was suspended when Royal Typewriter Company, like other US typewriter manufacturers, was converted to a weapons factory. When production resumed in 1946, the Royal Quiet DeLuxe continued to gain in market share. In the 50's, the Royal Quiet Deluxe was given a makeover with bright new colors and updated keys. The Royal Quiet Deluxe is compact with great lines and has always been a real workhorse.

This is the Royal Model "O" Typewriter. It is one of the few typewriters Royal produced without any identifying name to it. Sometimes refereed to as a Touch Control because that is the only identifier on it, or as the Model O because the serial number starts with "O". It was first introduced in 1936 and quickly became one of the most popular prewar portables. This model was the first to incorporate a way to tailor the machine to the user's preference. It incorporated most of the features of the larger full size typewriters in a small lightweight package. The machine featured glass keys, an exclamation point(many of the machines of this time did not) and larger easy to use keys

This is the Royal model P  typewriter. It was first introduced in 1926 as the first portable in the Royal line. Royal was way behind other manufacturers in the introduction of it portables. Original company philosophy was to concentrate on the full size business machines. George E. Smith, the then Royal president, did not believe the private individual was a serious buyer for typewriters. Other manufacturers, proved him wrong. Royal entered the portable market 6 years later then the rest of the competition, but came in with gusto. They employed huge marketing strategies, such as dropping typewriters out of airplanes...in crates with parachutes...to promote the product. In a short period of time Royal reported they had sold their 1 millionth typewriter, and went on to become the leading typewriter manufacturer in the United States. The model one was a huge success. It incorporated most of the features of the larger full size typewriters in a small lightweight package. The second generation of the model one saw only minor changes. These included redesign of the top covers to cover the ribbon spools and protect them from dust, as well as expansion of the available colors

The Royal Quiet puts you right in touch with literary history --This was the first model in a redesigned Model A Quiet series The Quiet was later merged with the Deluxe model to make the Quiet Deluxe The line that outsold any other portables of the time. It was introduced just before World War II, but its production was suspended when Royal Typewriter Company, like other typewriter manufacturers in the United States at the time, was converted to an ordnance factory to produce weapons. The Quiet was very short lived series by Royal. It varied from the Deluxe only in cosmetics. It was one of the last Royal portable with actual glass covered keys. Later models used a dished plastic covering. Compact, snazzy and a pleasure to write with, it is a real workhorse.

The Royal Quiet DeLuxe puts you right in touch with literary history -- it was one of Ernest Hemingway's favorite machines. This was the first model in a series of the Royal Quiet DeLuxe line that outsold any other portables of the time. It was introduced just before World War II, but its production was suspended when Royal Typewriter Company, like other typewriter manufacturers in the United States at the time, was converted to an ordnance factory to produce weapons. When production resumed in 1946, the Royal Quiet DeLuxe continued to gain a following among on-the-go writers and journalists. Compact, snazzy and a pleasure to write with, it is a real workhorse.

This particular gem was produced in the 1939 . It is a rare model...it was the first year of the Quiet Deluxe model. It was the only model with the round shift keys. Later models had square keys. ...this model was introduced at the end of the Depression, and before WWII, so very few of these units were produced.

This has been completely serviced to include:
